Vine & Fig History

Vine and Fig Farm, LLC is a family farm in the town of Brunswick, a short distance from the Village of Wynantskill, NY. We grow fruit, vegetables, and cut-flowers for wholesale and retail customers throughout the Capital District.

Our name comes from George Washington’s oft-referenced vision of “…a time when all Americans can sit in the shade of their own vine and fig trees.”

Our family first moved to our current farm from Poestenkill in the 1930’s when most Brunswick residents had links to a farm in their family. Our produce was sold to neighbors and at local markets. A lot has changed over the years. At various times we have been a dairy and hay and grain farm.

Today most people have lost a direct link to a farm in their family. In a case of “the more things change, the more they stay the same,” we are again focused on selling many of the same crops to local markets as was done in the beginning. We want you to think of us as your first choice for locally grown produce, from sweet corn or melons for a summer picnic, to cut-flowers for any occasion, to pumpkins and fall ornamentals at Halloween.
